These are the top 3 profiles we install:

  • Schiene
  • Rondec
  • Quadec

Each one gives you a different look— and they will give your tile project a beautiful end-to-end look, and protect your tile against chipping or cracking.

Let’s take a look at these…

Schluter Schiene (Minimal, Straight Edge)

Schiene

A classic. This was actually the original profile Mr. Werner Schluter created.

Schiene is the most low-profile, minimal option.

It’s basically a straight metal edge that finishes the tile without drawing attention to itself.

Here’s why we like it:

  • Clean, subtle finish
  • Works in almost any space
  • Great when you don’t want the edge to stand out

This is usually the safest choice if you’re unsure.

Schluter Rondec (Rounded Edge)

Rondec

Rondec gives you a soft, rounded finish.

It’s more noticeable than Schiene, but still clean.

Why people choose it:

  • Softens sharp tile edges
  • Feels more traditional
  • Good for bathrooms, showers, and residential spaces

It’s also designed to protect tile edges from chipping, which is one of the main reasons profiles exist in the first place.

If you don’t like sharp corners, this is the move.

It looks beautiful on shower curbs!

Schluter Quadec (Square Edge, Modern Look)

Quadec Schluter

More of a modern look.

It gives you a sharp, square edge that lines up with clean, contemporary designs.

Why we use it:

  • Matches modern cabinets and straight lines
  • Creates a defined, intentional edge
  • Can even act as a design feature

Like Rondec, it’s also built to protect tile edges from damage, not just look good

If your space is modern, this is usually the right call.

So… to wrap things up:

All three do the same job:

  • Protect the tile edge
  • Finish the installation cleanly

The difference is purely how they look.

Where These Profiles Are Used

We use these on:

  • Showers
  • Niches
  • Wall edges
  • Floor transitions
  • Anywhere tile ends

If there’s an exposed edge, one of these will protect your tile better than PVC or mitered edges.

Function and Aesthetic

It’s not just about the looks, it’s also about protecting your space and extending the life of your tile. Saving you $$$ in the long run!

But this is one of those small details that makes a big difference.
