It’s What’s Inside Your Shower That Counts

Failed shower in Englewood

Remains of a failed shower in Englewood…

You are looking at some debris in our dumpster from a shower we demoed and re-tiled. Can you “spot” the problem?

This shower looked good on the outside, but then again you can buy a really nice looking toilet too. Just like the old saying, “You can’t judge a book by it’s cover”, you can’t judge a shower by the finished look. The problem here is what is inside the shower, like the sorry story in a poorly written book with the cool cover, or the contents of the toilet no one flushed..

A good shower is going to dry quickly so mold can not grow, mold needs 4 things to grow.

  • Warmth
  • Water
  • Organic matter
  • Oxygen

Spot-bonding and lack of waterproofing…

are going to allow this shower to grow mold at a rapid rate. This shower was months old! You see the red? That was the shower’s waterproofing.

What we do differently is we completely encapsulate your shower in water-proofing and prep the walls in a way that minimizes excess space between the tile and water-proofing.

Ask your tile guy,

“How much thinset coverage is needed in wet areas?” The correct answer is 95%. This shower may have had 40%.

Now ask, “Is cement board water-proof?” The correct answer is no. Our showers dry on average in 30 minutes after the water is turned off.

And we can offer a 10 Year systems warranty on your shower, make sure your tile guy tells you his warranty.  We are soon going to be offering lifetime warranties on showers! Stay tuned!  If your tile guy failed those questions, let us know, we are here to help.
