So, in our recent series of Reacting to Tile Tik Toks, we came across this video about Luxury Stone Tile that starts with: “you’ll see this in every home soon”.
I’m like… will you?
It’s always interesting to see these bold claims about trends on social media. But anyways, we wanted to expand a bit on Luxury Stone Tile and whether the demand we’ve seen in real life lives up to such claim.
How popular is luxury stone tile in Southwest Florida?

Short answer: it’s desirable—but niche.
In Florida overall, tile dominates (thankfully!) because of the weather conditions.
We have an article about why tile is the best alternative for flooring in Florida, check it out here!
Within the high-end segment, natural stone (marble, travertine, quartzite) is still a go-to for luxury homes because of its unique veining and “one-of-one” look.
In South Florida specifically, there’s a clear shift toward “artistry in stone” / custom work, Feature walls, spa showers, statement installs.
At our store in Englewood, we haven’t seen a huge demand for it yet, like I mentioned in the video, people have asked for it only a couple of times in the last year or so. But it’s growing!
What makes it “luxury”?

The cost per square foot makes it significantly more expensive to install, since it’s a more specific type of install that requires very specific tools.
Here are some of the tools required:
Cutting & fabrication

- Rail saw / bridge saw (wet saw with precision head)
- Angle grinder with variable speed + polishing pads
- Core bits (for plumbing penetrations)
- Stone profiling / edge polishing tools
Handling (big deal with stone)

- Suction cup lifters (manual or battery)
- Carry clamps / slab carts (for large format)
- A-frame storage
Installation tools

- Large-format trowels (1/2″–3/4″)
- Tile leveling systems (mandatory for stone)
- Straight edges / laser levels (flatness tolerance is tight)
- Back-butter tools (stone requires full coverage)
Surface prep
- Self-leveling underlayment tools
- Waterproofing systems (critical in showers)
- Crack isolation membranes
Finishing
- Sealers (penetrating / enhancing)
- Buffing pads
Is it becoming more popular?
Yes—but in a very specific way.
What’s growing:
Custom, high-end installs, textured / 3D stone walls, large-format stone slabs, spa-style bathrooms, “Quiet luxury” / natural materials
Natural stone is tied heavily to high-end, timeless design trends and continues to be associated with prestige.
What’s competing with it:
Porcelain slabs mimicking stone (huge growth), Quartz / engineered materials and lower-maintenance alternatives.
Where the industry is headed.
It’s always hard to predict with a huge level of confidence where the market will go, but we can tell you that demand is increasing for unique, non-cookie-cutter installs.
However, overall volume is being eaten by cheaper, faster, lower-maintenance materials.
So, will you see Luxury Stone Tile in EVERY HOME?
The short answer is no, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see it at all.
- It’s high-margin, low-volume, very specialized work.
- Mostly tied to:
- custom homes
- designers
- affluent clients
- Requires:
- better prep
- better tools
- more time
- Competing heavily with porcelain that looks “good enough”
