First off, Josiah and I (Carissa) got to attend Schluter School! We learned lots and had fun getting our hands (and feet, in my case.) dirty. For Josiah, this was almost a normal day, since he does this for a living–for me, it was a fun new adventure. Josiah is definitely way better at spreading thinset, though, for the record. 😉
Here we are walking up to our next big learning experience…
. . .Coverings! This was at the end of April/beginning of May, and it was held in Atlanta, Georgia.
There were people there. Lots of people. Lots and lots of people… (this was actually only moderately busy.) Apparently the International tile industry is actually really big.
We learned more about Pintrest! Fun times. We’ve been enjoying using Pintrest and are coming up with more creative ways to use it to better serve our customers. If you’re on Pintrest, let us know!
We really enjoyed Jim Dion’s talks–we went to two, and plan on implementing many of his ideas in our little tile store. (They have pretty nice fake smiles, don’t you think?)
Lis Calandrino was lots of fun and had some fantastic ideas for events to host at our store. We enjoyed meeting her and also went to two of her talks.
Hannah was brave and talked to Leatrice Eiseman from Pantone Color Institute! It was very interesting learning about the upcoming trends in color. And also I am happy because emerald is the color of the year, and I happen to think green is the best color.
Josiah and Papa (Rob) being techies while waiting for a class to start…
We got to ride the bus a lot. With all these serious looking business people.
Meanwhile, this was us. Not so serious… But hey, we laughed more than everyone else on the bus, and laughing’s good for your health, right?
This was one of our yummy suppers in the hotel room.
Um, so yeah, we gathered a lot of goodies on our excursions through the exhibit halls… (Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the exhibit halls, hence the lack of pictures.) It was for a good cause, though. The little people in our family were quite thrilled with the presents. 😉
The hotel we stayed at had a very unique design… you could see almost all the floors at the same time.
And there you have it, a brief overview of our recent learning experiences. We all love learning, so naturally that carries over into the way we do business. 🙂
